Safely through autumn with POIbase

The wind sweeps the fallen leaves on the streets, it gets dark earlier again and the first frost is not far: autumn’s back. Especially at this time of year, many accidents occur due to slippery roads, reduced visibility or increased number of deer crossing the roads.

August 2010 - Europe-wide camp site info for sat-navs

Just in time for the summer holidays, there’s a new service for camping fans: using the free POIbase software, you can now download a Europe-wide campsite guide for many of the navigation devices currently on the market.

With over 20,000 entries, the campsite guide from Mobilschaf already contains information about campsites and pitching grounds in 33 European countries. Campers can now use POIbase not only to locate campsites, but also to find out about farms, vineyards and supermarkets with car parks. Also, RV accessories and dealers can now be displayed on the navigation system. The entries can also be viewed on an interactive map on the computer.
In addition to camping destinations, the software provides many additional services that can be useful on vacation: for example, speed camera data that reduce the risk of expensive surprises, a comprehensive restaurant database and an emergency pharmacy directory in case you fall ill while on holiday.

The Mobilschaf camping guide can be ordered directly from POIbase and costs €19.90. As well as devices from Garmin and Tom Tom, the campsite guide is also compatible with navigation systems from NAVIGON, Becker, Falk, iGO, NavGear, NAVMAN, Pioneer, Route 66, Sygic, Mio, JVC, Destinator, Clarion and Blaupunkt.

July 2010 – Now more up-to-date petrol station information for all sat-navs

More and more drivers let their navigation devices take them to petrol filling stations. For a long time POIbase has offered environment-conscious sat-nav users the additional service of displaying the location of gas filling stations – and this service continues to grow.

In cooperation with www.gas-tankstellen.info, POIbase now offers its users one of the largest databases of gas filling station POIs in Europe. This service is, as always with POIbase, compatible with all available navigation devices.

There are over 1,200 natural gas (CNG) and 9,000 LPG (LNG) stations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal in the extensive station list – including lots of additional information.

The free basic version offers POIbase users the ability to show the location of their desired petrol station. The premium version, for just €9.90 a year, also shows payment options, fuel prices and opening times. The prices of fuels at all the included fuelling stations are updated daily for premium users and compared according to region. The fuelling stations are then evaluated and placed in different price categories, indicated on the map by different coloured POI symbols.
